Tien To is a second-year medical student at the University of Colorado, School of Medicine. She was paired with NAMI for her first-year service learning project with mental health as a passion of hers, and a desire for doing more work in the field.
Tien graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a B.S. in Public Health Sciences, and did her Master’s in Medical Humanities at the University of Rochester. Her interest in mental health started during the time she worked as a scribe in a pediatric clinic. The pediatrician that she worked with specialized in children with mental illnesses and developmental delays. During her time there, they implemented the PHQ-9 and GAD screening for teens. She is also certified in Mental Health First Aid, and looks to bring more training to more students.
