Before and after the Walk
Be a leader. Be the first person to register for your team and make a donation to yourself.
Do all the things that you are encouraging others to do. At your place of work, schedule
a meeting with the highest level manager you can reach and ask him/her to register for the team and support your
efforts by recruiting employees, members of his/her family, and friends to participate.
Try to recruit assistant team captains or organize a committee to help you build your team.
(This would be a good idea for a company team).
Information for Teams and Team Captains
Team building is an important aspect of NAMIWalks. Teams are a great way to bring people together
toward a common goal or enjoy a little friendly competition among each other.
The more people that form teams and recruit walkers, the more awareness will be
raised about the need for quality mental healthcare.

NAMIWalks Reach a Nationwide Audience. NAMIWalks’ public, active display of support
for people affected by mental health conditions is one important way we are changing how Americans view mental illness.
NAMIWalks brings together individuals and businesses to help raise funds, combat stigma and promote
awareness and understanding. NAMIWalks is NAMI’s largest and most successful mental health
awareness and fundraising event. In 2018, 88 NAMIWalks events raised over $11.5 million
to support local programs and initiatives that improve the lives of persons affected by mental illness.
This year's goal is $12 Million.
